WARREN, Mich. – Macomb Volleyball battled but ultimately fell short as their valiant comeback bid ended in a four-set setback Wednesday (Sept. 21) inside the Sports & Expo Center in Warren. After dropping the first two sets, the Monarchs won a thriller in set three, 28-26, and fought hard in the fourth set before dropping the conference tilt to the visiting Jets.
The loss shifts the Monarchs record to 3-8 overall and 0-5 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference. The Jets ended the evening at 3-5 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
Natalie Husson (Marysville, Mich./Marysville) recorded one of her best matches of the season with eight kills and a career-high six block assists, while
Chante Hudgins (Warren, Mich./Lincoln) followed closely at the net with four block assists.
Skylar Hunt (Chesterfield, Mich./L'Anse Creuse North),
Kaylee Lathrop (Macomb, Mich./Lutheran North) and
Haile Polisano (New Baltimore, Mich./Anchor Bay) had two aces each to account for six of the team's eight aces on the evening. Lathrop also set a new career-best in assists with 13.
Khloee Stoll (Macomb, Mich./Anchor Bay) brought her weekly dig total to 56 after posting 26 digs to lead the Monarchs' back row in Wednesday's contest.
