Volleyball Mounts Impressive Comeback, Snaps Six Match Skid in Thrilling Fashion

Jordan Turner and Khloee Stoll earn Co-Player of the Match honors!

PETOSKEY, Mich. – Down two sets to none, Macomb Volleyball refused to quit and mounted a thrilling comeback to pick up a five-set road victory over the North Central Michigan College Timerwolves Saturday (Sept. 24) in Petoskey. The five-set victory snapped a six match losing streak for the Monarchs and marked the fourth win of the season for the Blue & White.

The host Timberwolves fell to 0-7 in their inaugural campaign.

In a tight battle to open Saturday's non-conference tilt, the Monarchs were edged by a narrow 26-24 margin after the Timberwolves rallied from down five late to earn the opening set win. In the second set, the Timberwolves capitalized on Monarch miscues to win, 25-19, and take a commanding 2-0 lead in Saturday's match.

After six consecutive losses and facing a 0-2 hole on the road, the Monarchs could've easily backed down, but instead the team refused to lose and put their resiliency on display by earning a 25-22 third set victory. One set later, the Monarchs opened up a huge lead and went on to claim a 25-19 win to force a fifth set, and in the final frame the Blue & White never looked back on their way to a 15-9 decision to secure the thrilling come-from-behind victory.

Khloee Stoll (Macomb, Mich./Anchor Bay) helped will the Monarchs to the road win behind her 10th 30-dig performance in a Macomb uniform. The standout sophomore libero posted an even 30 digs and added two assists and an ace, while Haile Polisano (New Baltimore, Mich./Anchor Bay) followed with 13 digs to go along with 11 kills and four aces. Skylar Hunt (Chesterfield, Mich./L'Anse Creuse North) checked in with eight digs and Kaylee Lathrop (Macomb, Mich./Lutheran North) added seven digs to accompany a 12-assist performance.

Jacalyn Jarvie (Clinton Twp., Mich./Chippewa Valley) posted a career-high 18 assists in the winning effort, helping Riley Fisette (Chesterfield, Mich./L'Anse Creuse North) notch another double-digit kill performance with 11.

Jordan Turner (Highland Park, Mich./Wilmington Univ.) put together arguably the best performance of the day after posting 10 kills on 22 attempts with no errors for a .455 hitting percentage. The sophomore transfer added a solo block and a block assist to round out one of her best matches as a Monarch.

Chante Hudgins (Warren, Mich./Mott) slammed down eight kills on 24 attempts to round out the top performers in Saturday's well-rounded team victory.

The Monarchs return to MCCAA Eastern Conference play Wednesday (Sept. 28) with a road match at St. Clair County Community College. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. in Port Huron.
