Macomb Volleyball is heading back to the postseason! The Monarchs clinched a spot in one of the two Region 12 Great Lakes District Tournaments (A or B)! District and Seed TBD over the course of next week's matches. The Monarchs have now made the playoffs in
four (4) out of five seasons with head coach
Lauren "Doogie" Duquette at the helm.
MONARCH REWIND
Before we move ahead, let's take a look at how the Monarchs got to 10 wins on the season as the team shook off a slow start on Monday (Oct. 16) at Henry Ford to win in sweeping fashion. The Monarchs erased an 18-10 deficit in the first set to win the opener, 26-24, and never looked back as they cruised to the three-set victory.
Becca Weiss recorded a whopping seven aces in the win.
PLAYOFF SEEDING ON THE LINE
Not only is Monday Sophomore Night, but it is also a match that will decide critical playoff seeding. The Monarchs, 6-4 in conference play with two matches remaining, host the 5-5 Jackson College Jets. With a win, the Monarchs will secure the No. 3 seed in the MCCAA East and play in the District B Tournament. A loss likely results in the Monarchs playing in the play-in match in District A.
WHEN THEY WOULD PLAY
If the Monarchs lock up the East No. 3 seed, they will move on to District B play and take on the No. 2 seed from the MCCAA West Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. If the Monarchs end up as the four seed, a play-in match vs. Bay College awaits on Nov. 1 (time TBD). The winner of that match plays the OCCAC's No. 1 seed Nov. 2 at 6 p.m.

A LOOK AT: JACKSON
The Jackson College Jets enter Monday's all-important MCCAA East tilt with an 11-6 overall record and an even 5-5 ledger in conference play. The Jets won the first meeting of the season, a 3-0 sweep over the Monarchs back on Sept. 27 in Jackson. Alivia Smith paces the defense with 215 digs, while the Jets attack is balanced with three players at 90 or more kills this season.
A LOOK AT: OCC
The Oakland Community College (OCC) Raiders were officially knocked out of playoff contention with a setback to Mott their last time out. At 3-7 in the MCCAA East, the Raiders are seeking a strong finish under the guidance of first-year head coach Tom Prychitko. The Monarchs won the first matchup of the season with the Raiders, a 3-0 victory in Warren on Oct. 2.
