WARREN, Mich. – Macomb Volleyball was close to pulling off a thrilling Sophomore Night comeback, but the visiting Jets had other plans as Jackson College held off the Monarchs' rally to win in five sets (25-22, 25-22, 20-25, 21-25, 15-11). The loss sends the Monarchs to 10-11 overall and 6-5 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference. The Jets improved to 6-5 in the conference (14-6 overall) and swept the series with the Monarchs.
Monday's decision likely sends the Jets to the NJCAA Great Lakes District B Tournament as the East No. 3 seed and shifts the Monarchs to the Great Lakes District A Tournament as the East No. 4 seed. While those are the likely landing spots for each team, the Jets and Monarchs seeds won't be official until after Wednesday's matches. (Note: due to two teams dropping out, there is no longer a play-in match for either tournament)
If the Monarchs end up as the East No. 4 seed, they will play the South No. 1 seed, Edison State Community College, on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 6 p.m. All tournament matches will be played at SC4 in Port Huron.
