ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – Macomb Volleyball went on the road to wrap up regular season play Monday (Oct. 30) and emerged victorious in Rochester Hills with a 3-1 victory over the Rochester JV Warriors. The four-set win, coming via set scores of 25-23, 25-20, 26-28 and 25-15, elevated the Monarchs record to 12-11 to end regular season action.
Chante Hudgins (Warren, Mich./Lincoln) continued to be a force and led the Monarchs in Monday's non-conference tilt with a career-high-tying 17 kills. Hudgins and
Paige Elliott (Livonia, Mich./Detroit Country Day) tied for the team lead in aces with three, followed by
Adeline Tresnak (Dryden, Mich./Dryden) with two. Tresnak followed Hudgins in kills with 14, while
Mallory Cardinale (Clinton Twp., Mich./Chippewa Valley) added 11 kills.
Elliott recorded 45 assists as part of another efficient night, while
Grace Amoe (Harrison Twp., Mich./L'Anse Creuse) tallied seven kills on a .294 hitting percentage.
Defensively,
Becca Weiss (Dryden, Mich./Dryden) paced the Monarchs with 24 digs and Elliott set a new career-high in digs with 19. Cardinale recorded 13 digs and Tresnak had 10 to round out the Monarchs with double-digit digs.
Katarina Gavric (Canton, Mich./Salem) and Amoe had two block assists each.
Lexi Pogasic (Washington Twp., Mich./Romeo) tallied eight digs and an ace to help lift the Monarchs to victory Monday night.
The Monarchs now turn their full attention to this week's double-elimination NJCAA Region 12 Great Lakes District A Tournament. Tournament play opens for the Monarchs Thursday (Nov. 2) against the top Division II team from the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC), Edison State Community College. First serve is slated for 6 p.m. at St. Clair County Community College in Port Huron.
The winner of the Region 12 Great Lakes District A Tournament clinches a bid to the NJCAA Division II Volleyball Championship in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Nov. 15-18.
