Four Reach Double Figures as No. 6 Men’s Basketball Cruises to 95-73 Win Over Iowa Western

Marlon Williams led a balanced cast of Monarchs with 19 points on perfect 7-of-7 shooting (5-of-5 3PM)!

IOWA FALLS, Iowa – No. 6 Macomb Men's Basketball shot out to a hot start and never looked back in a 95-73 victory over the Reivers of Iowa Western Community College on Saturday (Nov. 11). The game—Macomb's finale in Ellsworth CC's Dale Howard Classic—was all Monarchs from start to finish as the Blue & White led 52-32 at the break before cruising to the 22-point neutral site win.

The win pushed Macomb's record to 2-1 on the young season. The Reivers, a team that outscored the opposition by 35 points per game over the past three contests, dropped to 3-2 on the season.

As a team, the Monarchs shot 53% (36-of-68) for the game, including a 44% (11-of-25) effort from 3-point territory, on their way to posting 95 points.

Marlon Williams (Benton Harbor, Mich./Benton Harbor) paced the Monarchs offensively with a perfect performance from the field. Out for most of the preseason, the Benton Harbor product is rounding into form and had a statement game by connecting on all seven of his shots from the field, including a 5-of-5 effort from downtown.

Josh Hines (Macomb, Mich./Dakota/U-Indy) followed Williams with 15 points, doing so on 6-of-11 shooting overall (3-of-5 3PM). The redshirt freshman added six rebounds in the winning effort.

Parker Day (Saginaw, Mich./Hertiage/GVSU) recorded 14 points on 50% shooting to accompany a game-high nine rebounds, while Juwan Maxey (Detroit, Mich./Renaissance) concluded his impressive stay in Iowa with 13 points and five rebounds.

The tandem of Justin James (Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson) and Tymias Williams (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) chipped in with nine points and four assists each. Williams hauled in eight rebounds and James corralled four as the pair posted balanced stat lines to help lift the Monarchs to victory.

DaMaryon Fishburn (Detroit, Mich./Trillium Academy) and Tate MacKenzie (Ypsilanti, Mich./Lincoln) tallied seven points each to round out Saturday's leaders.

The Monarchs are home Wednesday and Friday in the week ahead for the team's final two home non-conference games. On Wednesday (Nov. 15), the Monarchs welcome Delta to Warren for a 7:30 p.m. contest. On Friday, CBG Prep visits Warren for an 8 p.m. tilt. Both games will be streamed live on MacombMonarchs.com/Watch.
