WARREN, Mich. – No. 10 Macomb Men's Basketball wasted no time dispatching former Eastern Conference counterpart, Delta College, Wednesday (Nov. 15) as the Monarchs cruised to a 49-14 halftime lead and an eventual 107-41 victory over the Pioneers. The 66-point win marked the fourth largest margin of victory in program history (largest margin of victory over a fellow MCCAA team in program history).
While 107 points and a 66-point margin of victory steal the show, the Monarchs defense was the key factor in Wednesday's win as the Blue & White held the Pioneers to 13 made field goals and 21% shooting for the game, including a 1-of-13 clip from 3-point territory (7.7%).
Offensively, the Monarchs shot 57.9% from the floor (44-of-76) and made as many free throws as Pioneer field goals (13).
Tymias Williams (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) paced six in double figures with 19 points and added four rebounds and three assists.
Parker Day (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage/GVSU) and
Tate MacKenzie (Ypsilanti, Mich./Lincoln) posted impressive stat lines as Day went for 16 points, 11 rebounds and five assists, while MacKenzie ripped down a game-high 15 rebounds to go along with 13 points, six blocks and four assists.
Jotham Nweke (Oak Park, Mich./Loyola) was a highlight reel of his own on his way to 16 points and five rebounds and
Juwan Maxey (Detroit, Mich./Renaissance) continued his strong play with 14 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Justin James (Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson) closed out the six Monarchs in double figures scoring with 12 points.
Marlon Williams (Benton Harbor, Mich./Benton Harbor) recorded a balanced nine points and eight rebounds, while
DaMaryon Fishburn (Detroit, Mich./Trillium Academy) followed closely with eight points and seven boards.
