WARREN, Mich. – Triple-double! To say
Juwan Maxey (Detroit, Mich./Renaissance) was impressive in the Monarchs' 109-48 win over CBG Prep on Friday (Nov. 17) would be an understatement. The sophomore guard was dialed in from start-to-finish on the way to his first collegiate triple-double with an incredible 16 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists. The 15 rebounds and 12 assists were both new career-high marks for the former Renaissance standout.
Friday's win lifts the 10
th ranked Monarchs to 4-1 on the young season ahead of Tuesday's (Nov. 21) Region 12 tilt at Owens Community College. Tip-off in Perrysburg, Ohio, is slated for 7:30 p.m.
While Maxey's triple-double stole the show, career highs were being recorded everywhere, none higher than the 27 points dropped in by sophomore transfer
Parker Day (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage/GVSU). Day netted 27 points on an efficient 10-of-13 effort from the floor and added seven rebounds to continue his strong start in a Monarch uniform. Through five games, Day is leading the Monarchs in points (16.8 PPG) and rebounds (8.8 RPG).
Tate MacKenzie (Ypsilanti, Mich./Lincoln) and
Kyle Millender (Detroit, Mich./DEPSA) joined Day with career-high nights in the scoring column as MacKenzie tallied 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for his second double-double in as many games, while Millender returned to the lineup to net 19 points on 9-of-15 shooting.
Justin James (Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson) worked his way to a balanced stat line of 15 points, eight rebounds, six assists and six steals and
