Women’s Basketball Improves to 3-0 With 75-56 Home Victory Over Crusaders

Tamia Tounsel led an impressive cast of Monarchs with a new career-high 23 points!

WARREN, Mich. – The reigning MCCAA Eastern Conference Player of the Week, Tamia Tounsel, led an impressive team effort as Macomb Women's Basketball improved to 3-0 on the season with a 75-56 home win over the Madonna Crusaders JV Thursday (Nov. 16) in Warren. Tounsel (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) posted another double-double with a career-high 23 points to go along with 14 rebounds to help propel the Monarchs to the 19-point victory.

The Monarchs closed the first quarter on a 9-3 run to turn a 10-10 tie into a 19-13 advantage through 10 minutes of action. The 9-3 burst gave the Monarchs a lead they would never relinquish as the Blue & White led by 10 at the half and 18 after three quarters of play in the 75-56 triumph.

While Tounsel led the way, her former Macomb Dakota teammate Enddiea Reese (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) recorded a career night of her own after pouring in 16 points and adding nine rebounds—both new career bests for the freshman. Marissa Thomas (Toledo, Ohio/Perrysburg) equaled Reese in the scoring column with 16 points and added a career-high eight assists to go along with eight rebounds in the win.

Sydney Garon (Shelby Twp., Mich./Henry Ford II) rounded out Thursday's stat leaders with seven points and five rebounds.
