The Monarchs visit OCC Thursday (March 2) at 7:30 p.m. to close out regular season play

HIGHLIGHTS

WARREN, Mich. –
A dominant first half performance led No. 9 Macomb Men's Basketball to a 77-45 Sophomore Night victory over Jackson College Tuesday (Feb. 28) in Warren. The Monarchs led 43-12 at the half and held the visiting Jets to 17.2% shooting in the opening stanza to move to 21-7 overall and 9-4 in the MCCAA East.

Tuesday's win, combined with a loss by Mott, lifts the Monarchs into sole possession of second place in the conference. With a win Thursday at Oakland Community College, the Monarchs will earn the No. 2 seed in the MCCAA East and will host the conference's fifth place team March 7 in Warren to begin postseason play.

On a night where the program honored its four sophomores (Shawn Brown, Jaylen Daughtery, Cameron McEvans and Tom McNelis), the Monarchs cruised from the opening tip and never trailed in the 32-point win. The Monarchs led by as many as 33 points and shot 47.8% from the floor while holding the Jets to 22.7% shooting.

Shawn Brown (Oak Park, Mich./Oak Park) got the start on Sophomore Night and made the most of his 20 minutes of work with a game-high 11 points to go along with team-leading tallies in rebounds (8) and blocks (4). Tamario Adley (Detroit, Mich./De La Salle) followed in double figures with 10 points and a game-high six assists, while Aidan Rubio (Flint, Mich./Goodrich/DME Academy) checked in with an equal 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting (2-of-4 3PM).

Sophomore forward Jaylen Daughtery (Oak Park, Mich./Ferndale) posted a stat line of eight points, six rebounds and two blocks, while Tymias Williams (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) checked in with nine points and four boards in 12 minutes of action.

Macomb Athletics thanks the sophomore class for their contributions to the program and wishes them the best of luck with their future endeavors!
