Shorthanded Monarchs Drop Two Road Games to First Place Jackson

The Monarchs welcome Jackson to Warren for the final two games of the series Saturday at 1 p.m.

JACKSON, Mich. – Macomb Baseball traveled to Jackson Thursday (April 6) for a conference twin bill with the first place Jets of Jackson College. The Jets won game one, 11-1, and held off a resilient Monarchs squad in the nightcap, 16-9.

In game one, Ryan Polega (Macomb, Mich./Henry Ford II) got the nod and struck out six over four-plus innings of work. Reese Rinna (Richmond, Mich./Richmond) was responsible for the lone run on the board in the opening game – a fourth inning, 400-foot solo home run well over the left field wall.

Logan Rybarczyk (Chesterfield, Mich./Anchor Bay) went 1-for-2 with a single to left center.

In game two, the Monarchs put nine runs on the board and were led by sophomore Tom Burt (Village of Clinton, Mich./Clinton) who went a perfect 3-for-3 with a team-best four RBIs. Jack Blomme (Oxford, Mich./Oxford) continued his strong play as of late with a 2-for-5 effort that included a double and two RBIs, while Logan Ramsey (Warren, Mich./Warren Mott) went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Rinna and Josh Medrano (Surprise, Az./Shadow Ridge) recorded a hit each and Nick Stokan (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester Adams) made the most of his opportunity with a seventh inning double to left center to go 1-for-1 on the day.

The Monarchs and Jets will meet again Saturday at Macomb for the final two games of the five-game season series. First pitch is 1 p.m. with live stream coverage available on MacombMonarchs.com/Watch.
