WARREN, Mich. – A tough stretch continued for Macomb Baseball Saturday (April 8) with a pair of losses to the first place Jets of Jackson College. Errors would doom the shorthanded Monarchs in the series-ending doubleheader as the Jets won game one, 11-0, before taking game two, 12-1.
Jake Wohlfert (Hartland, Mich./Hartland) got the start and pitched well after only allowing one earned run and striking out six over 4.2 innings of work.
Jack Blomme (Oxford, Mich./Oxford) doubled in game one while
Ben Dillabough (Warren, Mich./Warren Mott) went 1-for-2.
In game two,
Josh Medrano (Surprise, Az./Shadow Ridge) was responsible for the lone run scored on a RBI double to deep center field. Medrano went 2-for-2 in the nightcap, while Blomme,
Adam Amodei (Mt. Clemens, Mich./Chippewa Valley) and
Reese Rinna (Richmond, Mich./Richmond) all recorded a hit.
The Monarchs return to action Thursday when they visit The Corner Ballpark in Detroit to take on Schoolcraft at 2 p.m.
