What a weekend for Macomb Volleyball! The Monarchs got back on track with a pair of dominating performances, sweeping Bay College and North Central Michigan College on back-to-back days behind balanced play. The Monarchs came out with a laser focus both days and amassed
31 kills in each match to earn back-to-back sweeps.
BY THE NUMBERS: 60
While you can point to a host of reasons as the catalyst behind the Monarchs' strong performances over the weekend, one huge factor was the team's aggressive approach to defense. Through two three set victories, the Monarchs recorded 99 digs, including
60 in the win over North Central Michigan (a season-high in a three set match).
MONARCH REWIND
So good we are going to talk about it again! The Monarchs went 2-0 over the weekend with back-to-back sweeps over teams from the MCCAA North—Bay College and North Central Michigan College. While the team's play was balanced, freshman outside hitter
Adeline Tresnak was one of several players who excelled, totaling 20 digs, 14 kills and four aces in the two wins.
LET THE (LEAGUE) GAMES BEGIN!
Now they really count! On Monday (Sept. 11), the Monarchs will open MCCAA Eastern Conference play at home against the SC4 Skippers. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at the Sports & Expo Center. The match, the opening act of a 12-match conference slate, is the first of two league contests this week as the Monarchs head to Flint Wednesday for a 7 p.m. battle with the Mott Bears.

A LOOK AT: SC4
The SC4 Skippers enter Monday's MCCAA Eastern Conference opener with a 4-5 record after playing one of the more difficult schedules across the conference. Through nine matches, the Skippers are led by Rachel Dunavant's 222 digs and Piper Clark's 112 kills. The Monarchs will look to snap a seven-match skid against SC4 when the teams meet Monday evening in Warren.
A LOOK AT: MOTT
On Wednesday, the Monarchs will make the trip north to Flint to take on the Bears of Mott Community College. The Bears, six-time defending MCCAA East champions, enter the week with a 3-6 record after also playing a challenging non-conference slate. Through nine matches, the Bears are balanced defensively with three players checking in with 100 or more digs.
IT'S A TREND
The Monarchs have shot out to strong starts all season, winning the first set in all six matches on their way to earning a 4-2 record overall. The difference has been when the Monarchs carry over their strong start into the second set. Through six matches, the Monarchs are a perfect 4-0 when winning the first two sets and are 0-2 when splitting the first two sets.
