Quite the home debut! Freshman outside hitter
Adeline Tresnak put on a show for the home crowd (and her hometown Dryden Cardinals who were in attendance) on Thursday with
six (6) aces in the five-set setback to Madonna. The talented freshman had one ace through three matches entering Thursday's home opener with Madonna.

Despite not getting the win in the end, Thursday's five-set home opener was host to several breakout performances, including the play of freshman outside hitter,
Hadley Schaefer. The Parkway Christian product posted a career-best and team-high
nine (9) kills in the five-set thriller and added a pair of aces and block assists.
MONARCH REWIND
Another close five set match went in favor of the opposition as the Monarchs dropped their home opener to Madonna, 3-2, by set scores of 25-16, 18-25, 23-25, 25-20 and 7-15. The loss shifted the Monarchs' record to an even 2-2 on the young season.

Adeline Tresnak (6) combined for 21 kills while
Nikole Nikolova recorded a team-best 26 digs.
HOMESTAND ROLLS ON
Join us this week as the four-match homestand rolls on with home matches on Friday and Saturday. On Friday (Sept. 8), the Monarchs host the Bay College Norse for a 7 p.m. first serve. On Saturday (Sept. 9), the Monarchs will look to even the season series when they host the Timberwolves of North Central Michigan College. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

A LOOK AT: BAY
The Bay College Norse, the first of two MCCAA Northern Conference opponents the Monarchs will face this weekend, will make long trip down from Escanaba for a 7 p.m. tilt Friday evening. Through 10 matches, the Norse have a 5-5 record and are led at the net by sophomore Kylee Tadisch with 62 kills and 25 blocks. Fellow sophomore Tori Jandt paces the defense with 196 digs.
A LOOK AT: NORTH CENTRAL MICHIGAN
So we meet again, Timberwolves! On Saturday, the Monarchs will welcome their friends from Petoskey to Warren for a 1 p.m. matinee match at the Sports & Expo Center. The Monarchs will look to even the score after falling in five sets to the Timberwolves in Petoskey on Aug. 25. The Timberwolves, 4-3 overall at the time of this release, are led by Ava Wendel with 62 kills and 45 digs.
CONFERENCE PLAY AHEAD
"The real season" is right around the corner! On Monday (Sept. 11), the Monarchs will open MCCAA Eastern Conference play against the Skippers of St. Clair County Community College (SC4) at 7 p.m. at the Sports & Expo Center. Monday's home contest marks the beginning of a 12-match conference slate for MCCAA East teams.
