No. 3 Macomb Closes Out Lansing, Cruises to 102-75 Win Behind Six in Double Figures

Josh Hines paced six Monarchs in double figures scoring with a game-high 25 points.

LANSING – No. 3 Macomb Men's Basketball erupted for 57 second half points and closed the game on a 30-10 run to defeat the host Stars of Lansing Community College by a 102-75 final on Wednesday (Nov. 20). The win lifted the third-ranked Monarchs to 5-0 on the season ahead of this weekend's challenging Turkey Hoop Shoot in Randolph, NJ.

Lansing dropped to 4-2 with the 27-point home setback.

After a slow start, the Monarchs were able to regain a one-possession lead at the half, 45-42, a lead the Blue & White would never surrender in the lopsided victory.

Back-to-back MCCAA Eastern Conference Player of the Week, Josh Hines (Macomb, Mich./Dakota), led the Monarch attack offensively with a game-high 25 points on an ultra-efficient 10-of-15 shooting overall (4-4 3PM). The redshirt sophomore guard added eight rebounds and a team-best six assists in 33 minutes of court time. Jotham Nweke (Oak Park, Mich./Loyola) followed with 17 points on a 6-of-8 effort from the field and hauled in six rebounds while battling foul trouble for the second time in as many games. Marlon Williams (Benton Harbor, Mich./Benton Harbor) was next with 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists, while Jalen Jenkins (Belleville, Mich./Belleville) checked in with 12 points (3-3 3PM) and five rebounds.

Caron Williams (Mount Clemens, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) and DaMaryon Fishburn (Detroit, Mich./Trillium Academy) dropped in 11 points each to round out the six Monarchs in double figures scoring. Fishburn corralled a career-high 15 rebounds to record the game's lone double-double.

Cameron House (Eudora, Kan./Midland Adventist) netted a career-high eight points, including an emphatic breakaway dunk to close the game out, and Malachi Irving (Warren, Mich./Fitzgerald) posted the game's best +/- with a +26 as part of an effort that included four assists, three rebounds and a game-high three blocks.

The Monarchs open the Turkey Hoop Shoot in New Jersey on Saturday (Nov. 23) at 3 p.m. against No. 25 Montgomery College of Maryland.
