WARREN – The 13^th ranked Mid Michigan College Lakers heated up in the second half to pull away from Macomb Women's Basketball on Friday (Dec. 6) and win, 72-46. The loss drops the Monarchs to 3-4 on the season. Mid Michigan moved their record to 8-2 after the strong second half effort.
 
The Monarchs fought valiantly throughout and trailed by a narrow 24-22 margin at the break thanks to a 15-8 advantage in the second quarter. The second quarter momentum couldn't carry over after halftime as the nation's 13^th ranked team started the third quarter strong and never looked back en route to their 26-point victory.
 
Asiyah Jihad (Farmington, Mich./North Farmington) continued to impress in the early stages of her collegiate career after hauling in game-high and career-high 19 rebounds to go along with 15 points in the hard-fought setback. Jihad had nine boards through one quarter of play and grabbed rebound No. 10 in the early stages of the second quarter as part of a well-rounded effort Friday afternoon.
 
Sydney Garon (Shelby Twp., Mich./Henry Ford II) followed with 10 points and five rebounds and A'Liyah Forris (Detroit, Mich./Cass Tech) checked in with six points, five assists and five rebounds.
 
The Monarchs continue their gauntlet against ranked competition Wednesday (Dec. 11) against No. 19 Lansing Community College. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. in Warren.
