No.6 Monarchs Hit 100 Again, Earn 18th Win Behind Balanced Effort Against Schoolcraft

The sixth-ranked Monarchs defeated Schoolcraft by a 100-78 final on Wednesday to improve to 18-3 overall and 7-1 in the MCCAA East.

WARREN, Mich. – No.6 Macomb Men's Basketball shot nearly 60% from the floor on their way to hitting the century mark for the ninth time this season in a 100-78 home victory over Schoolcraft on Wednesday (Feb. 7). The win lifts the Monarchs to 18-3 overall and 7-1 in the MCCAA East. The visiting Ocelots dropped to 12-10 overall and 4-4 in league play with the 22-point setback.

The Monarchs got what they wanted offensively throughout the night, including a first half effort that resulted in a 65.4% shooting effort. The strong-shooting opening stanza allowed the Monarchs to take a 44-29 lead into the halftime break.

Second half action saw the Monarchs post 56 points on 53.1% shooting as the Blue & White cruised to the 22-point victory.

Defensively, the Monarchs held the Ocelots under 40% shooting, highlighted by a 10-of-29 clip by Schoolcraft in the opening half.

Nate Brown (Flint, Mich./Davison) recorded a Macomb career-high with 19 points on 50% shooting and added six rebounds and four assists, while Juwan Maxey (Detroit, Mich./Renaissance) followed with 14 points and six boards on a night where six Monarchs reached double figures.

Justin James (Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson) and Tymias Williams (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) posted 12 points each with James dishing out five assists and Williams ripping down five rebounds. DaMaryon Fishburn (Detroit, Mich./Trillium Academy) got the start and made the most of it with a career-high 10 points to go along with five rebounds. Jotham Nweke (Oak Park, Mich./Loyola) equaled Fishburn's stat line with 10 points and five boards in the conference win.

Parker Day (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage/GVSU) had nine points, five assists and four rebounds and Marlon Williams (Benton Harbor, Mich./Benton Harbor) checked in with seven points and four rebounds. Kyle Millender (Detroit, Mich./DEPSA) led the Monarchs on the glass with seven rebounds and Tate MacKenzie (Ypsilanti, Mich./Lincoln) posted five points and five boards to round out Wednesday's action on the hardwood.

The sixth-ranked Monarchs host the Hawks of Henry Ford College on Saturday (Feb. 10) at 3 p.m.
