The fifth-ranked Monarchs will have to beat Kalamazoo Valley Community College (KVCC) for a fourth time this season to secure an automatic bid to the NJCAA Division II National Championship.

FLINT, Mich. – One win away from a return trip to Danville! No. 5 Macomb Men's Basketball was in cruise control Friday (March 8) on their way to a 101-59 NJCAA Great Lakes District B Semifinal win over Alpena Community College. The win sends the Monarchs (27-3) to the District B Championship on Sunday at 4 p.m. against Kalamazoo Valley Community College (KVCC). The title game will be played at Mott Community College in Flint.

As for the KVCC matchup, if the Monarchs want to secure their automatic bid to the NJCAA Division II National Championship and head to Danville for the second time in as many years, they will need to defeat a very skilled and well-coached Cougars team for the fourth time this season and sixth time over the past two seasons.

On Friday, the Monarchs led 51-21 at the break and went on to win by 42 points behind a game-high 19 points and 12 rebounds out of Parker Day (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage/GVSU). Day was followed by five other Monarchs in double figures as Jotham Nweke (Oak Park, Mich./Loyola) checked in with 15 points and five rebounds and Tymias Williams (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) added 14 points and seven rebounds.
