CLINTON TWP., Mich. – The Macomb Volleyball team put forth a valiant effort on Sophomore Night, but fell in four sets to Mott Community College on Wednesday (Oct. 29) inside Chippewa Valley High School. 

Macomb's five-match winning streak was snapped in the setback, sending the Monarchs to a final regular season record of 15-11 overall and a 7-5 mark in the MCCAA Eastern Conference. The Bears closed out the regular season at 21-13 overall and 9-3 in MCCAA East action. 

The Monarchs opened the evening with a 25-23 victory in the first set, but the Bears responded by winning the next three to take the match: 25-21, 25-21, and 25-22. 

Jordan Pflaum had another outstanding night for the Monarchs, tallying 18 kills, 15 digs, and five block assists. Kaley Eller added eight kills while Korin Hutton registered 35 assists and four aces.

The Monarchs had three more players reach double-digit dig totals as Sophia Kulaga posted 14, Alexis Cunha had 13 and Brooke Baker recorded 12 to round out Wednesday's leaders in the box score. 

Prior to the match, the Monarchs honored their sophomore class consisting of Kara Beeker, Alexis Cunha, Ashlyn Cunha, Kaley Eller, Sophia Kulaga and Jordan Pflaum. 

With Wednesday's result, the Monarchs will now prepare for the NJCAA Region 12 Great Lakes District B Tournament where they will open in the play-in match as the East No. 4 seed against South No. 4 seed Terra State Community College out of the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC). First serve for the single-elimination play-in match is set for 4 p.m. on Nov. 5 at Grand Rapids Community College, host of the 2025 Great Lakes District A and B Tournaments. With a win, the Monarchs will advance to the double-elimination portion of the district bracket on Nov. 6.
