GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Great Lakes District B Tournament play opening in sweeping fashion for Macomb Volleyball on Wednesday (Nov. 5) as the Monarchs defeated Terra State Community College in straight sets in the play-in match to advance into double-elimination bracket play.  

The Monarchs will take on the District B's No. 2 seed and the MCCAA Western Conference Champions, Southwestern Michigan College, on Thursday at 12 p.m. from Grand Rapids Community College's Gerald R. Ford Fieldhouse. 

As for Wednesday's play-in match, the Monarchs shook off a slow start to take the first set, 25-20, before going ahead by as many as 19 (23-4) in set two in a 25-10 triumph. The Titans continued to battle and held their first lead over the day against the Monarchs in the third set, but the Blue & White closed out the match with an 11-3 run.

Kara Beeker led a balanced attack with 10 kills and added a pair of block assists, while Brooke Baker tallied eight kills and a career-high seven aces and Jordan Pflaum recorded eight kills on 20 swings to go along with 11 digs.

Korin Hutton continued her consistent play in the setter role with 29 assists and Alexis Cunha tied Pflaum for the team lead in digs with 11.
