A'Liyah Forris recorded 12 points and six rebounds in a narrow 66-60 loss to Delta College in Plymouth, Ind., Friday (Nov. 7).
The loss drops the Monarchs to 1-1 on the young season. Delta improved to 2-0 with the victory.
Battling through a tough shooting night, the Monarchs were able to regain the lead late, going ahead 58-56 with just under four minutes to play. Delta responded with a 3-pointer on the ensuing possession to retake the lead for good as the Monarchs were only able to tally two more points down the stretch in the six-point setback.
Jihad's 24-point, 13-rebound performance marked the sophomore forward's second double-double in as many games this season and her 12
th in a Macomb uniform. Forris followed Jihad in the scoring column with 12 points and added six rebounds and a team-high four steals.
Janiya McWilliams and
Hannah Tamou chipped in with six points each with McWilliams also hauling in seven rebounds.
Vanessa Galovich posted a balanced stat line of four points, six rebounds and a team-high-tying four assists to round out Friday's leaders in the box score.
The Monarchs return to action Wednesday (Nov. 12) with a 5:30 p.m. tip-off at Edison State Community College in Piqua, Ohio.
