FREEPORT, Ill. – Playing without several starters and key rotation players, a shorthanded Macomb Men's Basketball squad battled by fell short in a 71-67 loss to College of Lake County on Saturday (Dec. 13) in Freeport, Ill. The loss, the team's third of the weekend, sends the Monarchs to 6-6 on the season.
Trailing by 17 at the half, the Monarchs rallied to take the lead late, but the Lancers made timely baskets in the final two minutes of play to seal the game.
Lajuan Holloway led the Monarchs with 16 points and added a team-best five assists to go along with five rebounds.
Brighton Birangui-Booto posted a career-high 14 points, while
Tabari Howard recorded his second double-double in a Monarch uniform with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Dante Wimberly tallied a career-high 12 points and
Keithan Gilmore corralled a career-best 10 rebounds and added seven points in the narrow setback.
The Monarchs make the trip to the Ohio/West Virginia border for a game at Hocking College on Dec. 20. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. from Nelsonville, Ohio.
