NELSONVILLE, Ohio – Sophomore transfer guard
Tabari Howard was dominant from start-to-finish in his Hocking College homecoming, posting a career-high 25 points while adding 11 rebounds and seven assists in a 91-77 road win over the Hawks on Saturday (Dec. 20).
Howard's career day led four Monarchs in double figures as the team notched its seventh victory of the season.
Playing without a host of starters and key contributors totaling an average of 52.3 points per game, the Monarchs pulled away after a slow start to lead 46-38 at the break.
A 13-2 run to begin the second half put the game out of reach for good as the Monarchs went on to lead by 20-plus before the Hawks made late 3-pointers in the final two minutes in the 14-point decision.
Keithan Gilmore followed Howard with a career day of his own, netting a career-high 17 points on 8-of-12 shooting while adding eight rebounds, a pair of assists and a block.
Lajuan Holloway checked in with 15 points and five assists and
Justin Gloster made the most of extended minutes on Saturday with career-bests in in points (14) and rebounds (13) for his first double-double at the collegiate level.
Simon Stockwell added eight points and five rebounds,
Brighton Birangui-Booto had six points, two boards and two assists and
Daniel Sotero-Martinez hauled in a career-high nine rebounds to go along with four points.
Chinasa Agbaeze rounded out the scoring for the Monarchs with two points.
As a team, the Monarchs dished out 19 assists on a 34-of-75 effort from the field and hauled in 55 rebounds (20 offensive).
The Monarchs are off until Jan. 2-3 when they take part in the SC4 Skippers Holiday Classic.
