JACKSON – The host Jets of Jackson College used a 20-4 run to end the first half and carried over the momentum into the latter stages of the game as Macomb Women's Basketball fell by an 82-46 final on Saturday (Feb. 1). The Monarchs trailed 24-20 midway through the second quarter before the Jets opened the game up for good with the 20-4 run.
The loss drops the Monarchs to 4-3 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference and 12-9 overall. The Jets improved to 16-5 overall and moved into a three-way tie atop of the league at 6-1. Saturday's game at Jackson marked the end of the first half of conference play as the Monarchs will now rotate back to the beginning of the home-and-home cycle at No. 13 Schoolcraft on Wednesday.
Asiyah Jihad led the Monarchs Saturday at Jackson with 13 points, doing so on a 5-of-9 effort from the field. The freshman forward added four rebounds and a pair of blocks in 25 minutes of action.
Sydney Garon was the only other Monarch to reach double figures scoring with 10 points to go along with a balanced stat line of six rebounds, four steals and three assists.
A'Liyah Forris had five points, four rebounds and three assists,
Vanessa Galovich posted five points, three boards and two assists and
Janiya McWilliams led the Monarchs on the glass with seven rebounds.
