WARREN – The Monarchs battled tough, but the 14
th ranked Skippers of St. Clair County Community College proved to be too much on Saturday (Feb. 15) in Warren as the visitors earned a 70-47 conference victory. The home setback shifts Macomb's record to 14-11 overall and 6-5 in the MCCAA East. The Skippers improved to 22-4 overall an 9-2 in conference play with the win.
KEY STATS: The Monarchs once again put together a stingy defensive effort, but the offensive end was unkind as the Blue & White only connected on 17-of-61 from the floor (27.9%) in the loss. The Skippers hauled in 19 offensive rebounds that contributed to a 26-9 advantage in second chance points.
Asiyah Jihad paced the Monarch effort with a game-high 18 points to go along with nine rebounds and two steals.
A'Liyah Forris followed in the box score with 14 points, four rebounds and three steals, while
Sydney Garon chipped in with 10 points, three rebounds and two steals.
Janiya McWilliams posted a balanced five points, seven assists and seven rebounds to round out Saturday's leaders.
The Monarchs host the Owls of Oakland Community College on Wednesday (Feb. 19) at 5:30 p.m.
