MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Dominic Miller tossed the 14
th no-hitter in program history in game two and
Vincent Cowdrey continued his red-hot week at the plate as the Monarchs took two from the previously unbeaten Bobcats of Bryant & Stratton College Ohio. The Monarchs emerged victorious in Friday's opener, 5-2, before earning a historic 9-0 win behind Miller's no-hit performance in game two.
The pair of wins lifts the Monarchs' record to 5-6 on the season. The Bobcats fell to 7-2 after suffering their first two setbacks of the 2025 campaign.
GAME ONE: Macomb 5, Bryant & Stratton Ohio 2
Connor Hayden was dealing once again as the freshman left-handed pitcher went the distance for his second win in as many starts. Hayden went seven innings strong, striking out six and scattering five hits while surrendering only one earned to help propel the Monarchs to victory.
Luke Babcock,
Adrian Epps and
Peyton Rich all drove in a run in the 5-2 win. Rich connected on a double and brought home the team's fifth and final run via a seventh inning sac fly.
The Monarchs were active on the bases throughout and stole seven bases in total, led by
Vincent Cowdrey and
Ryan McKay with two each.
GAME TWO: Macomb 9, Bryant & Stratton Ohio 0
Dominic Miller was simply dominant in game two and went on to record the 14
th no-hitter in program history in a 9-0 win. Miller was in complete command throughout, tossing seven innings of no-hit, five strikeout ball while only walking one batter.
While Miller's rare no-hitter made the headlines,
Vincent Cowdrey put on a show of his own, driving in six runs on a pair of home runs and a double. Cowdrey went 3-for-4 at the plate in total and also stole two bases in an incredible all-around performance.
With his two home runs in game two, Cowdrey lifted his season total to four through nine games played.
Riley Ames and
Luke Babcock recorded two hits each, while
Adrian Epps and
Ryan McKay each hit a double to round out the game two leaders.
UP NEXT
The Monarchs close out their spring trip with two final games at the Ripken Experience on Saturday. The day begins bright and early at 9 a.m. against Ocean County (NJ) and wraps up with a 12 p.m. first pitch opposite NJCAA Division III No. 5 Northampton (PA).
