PORT HURON – A late rally in game two propelled Macomb Baseball to a doubleheader sweep over the host SC4 Skippers on Thursday (April 24) at Sanborn Park in Port Huron. The Monarchs won game one by a 9-1 tally and later posted a 9-4 victory in extra innings in game two to sweep the day.
The wins vaulted the Monarchs to 26-14 overall and 13-6 in a heated race atop the MCCAA East. The 13-6 league record saw the Monarchs end the day in a tie with Henry Ford for first place in league play. Both Macomb and Henry Ford ended the day one game in front of second-place Mott.
The top two teams in the MCCAA East qualify for the NJCAA Region XII postseason with the top team earning home field advantage in the opening round. The second-place team will open postseason play on the road against one of the four conference champions from the MCCAA and OCCAC (seeded by Massey Ratings). The opening round is a best 2-out-of-3 series played at the higher seed with the winner advancing to Jackson College—site of the 2025 Region XII Championship—for a double-elimination tournament May 15-17.
