PORT HURON, Mich. – Macomb Men's Basketball dropped to 7-8 on the season with a 73-70 loss to the Bay College Norse on Saturday (Jan. 3) at the Skippers New Year's Classic. The narrow setback wraps up non-conference play as the Monarchs—still playing shorthanded without leading scoring production—begin MCCAA Eastern Conference play Jan. 10 at No. 22 Schoolcraft College.
For the second time in as many days, the Monarchs were unable to capitalize from the free throw line, knocking down only 21-of-34 (61.8%) from the stripe in the three-point decision.
The Norse led 33-27 at the half and held off a late burst by the Monarchs to move to 11-2 on the season.

Tabari Howard and
Caron Williams tallied 13 points each to lead the Monarchs, while
Donald Wilburn returned to the lineup with nine points on 4-of-8 shooting.
Joey Angok and
Jaylon Jackson followed with eight points each.
Angok and Williams led the Monarchs on the glass with six rebounds apiece.
