Men's Basketball Defeats Mott in Flint, Nabs Sole Possession of First Place in MCCAA East

Donald Wilburn continues his strong play with a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double.

FLINT, Mich. – Alone atop the MCCAA East! Macomb Men's Basketball ran its winning streak to four straight on Wednesday (Feb. 11) with a 70-57 victory over Mott Community College inside the Ballenger Fieldhouse in Flint.

The win moved the Monarchs to 15-10 overall and 8-2 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference. The 8-2 mark league play shifts the Monarchs into sole possession of first place with a challenging road slate ahead.

The host Bears fell to 9-14 overall and 2-7 in league action with the 13-point setback.

Playing without a pair of key players, the Monarchs jumped out to an early lead and held off a late rally by the Bears to secure the road win. The Monarchs led by 10 at the break, 38-28, and by as many 18 while never trailing in the road victory.

Donald Wilburn continued his strong play by registering his first double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Caron Williams added 12 points while Malachi Irving netted 11 points in the winning effort.

Simon Stockwell chipped in eight points and six boards, while Tabari Howard posted another balanced stat line of six points, nine rebounds and six assists to round out the Monarchs' leaders in Flint.
