WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Macomb Baseball team wrapped up their time in Florida with a doubleheader split against Lake Region State College on Wednesday (March 11). The Monarchs won game one, 10-0, in six innings before falling by a  5-3 final in game two. With the split, the Monarchs' record is 6-10 overall.

GAME ONE: Macomb 10, Lake Region State 0 (6 inn.) 
The Monarch offense was clicking on all cylinders as they scored four runs in the first inning and never looked back in the run-rule victory. The big first inning was followed by the Monarchs scoring two runs each in the third, fifth and sixth innings for 10-run win. A walk-off RBI single by Evan Morrison sealed the win for the Monarchs. 

Dominic Cavacini was one of many Monarcsh to enjoy a strong opener at the plate as the sophomore went 1-for-2 with a double and three RBIs. Lochlan Stoudt was 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, his third blast of the season, while Peyton Rich went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs and Morrison was 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs. Marwynn Matthews Jr was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, while Buster Debol connected on a double as part of a 1-for-2 opener with a pair of walks and runs scored. Norberick Garcia also had an RBI double for the Monarchs in the win. 

Johnathan Meyette was dealing on the mound, recording nine strikeouts in five innings of work while only walking one. The effort secured Meyette's first win of the season. Drew Dutkiewicz came on in relief and recorded one strikeout in his inning of work. 

GAME TWO: Lake Region State 5, Macomb 3
A five-run first inning by the Royals stood up as they held on for a 5-3 victory over the Monarchs. Walks led to the Royals' big opening frame.

The Monarchs had the tying run on first in the top of the seventh following back-to-back walks, but was unable to score in a game that saw the Blue & White produce three runs on six hits.

Rich was the only Monarch to register a multi-hit game as he went 2-for-4. Debol and Matthews Jr each recorded an RBI while Brett Leonard was 1-for-2 with an RBI. 

Connor Dwyer and Logan Ion had two strikeouts each in relief appearances on the mound. 

UP NEXT
The Monarchs will begin their trek north and make a stop at Andrew College in Georgia for a doubleheader on Friday (March 13). First pitch is scheduled for noon. The games are in doubt due to the forecast.
