DETROIT, Mich. – A fast start was nearly undone before Macomb Baseball closed the door on Henry Ford College in an 8-7 win on Saturday (March 21) at the The Corner Ballpark in Detroit. The Monarchs improved to 3-0 in league play with the win and sent the Hawks to 1-2 in the MCCAA East with the loss.
Greg Burns got the ball and moved to 3-1 on the season after striking out four across five efficient innings of work.
Aidan Manzella bookended the victory with his second save of the season after ending the game via punch out.
Norberick Garcia and
Lochlan Stoudt connected on a double and triple, respectively, while Garcia was the lone Monarch with two hits after posting a 2-for-3 line with two runs scored and a walk.
Buster Debol and
Peyton Rich drove in two runs each to account for four of the six RBIs on the afternoon.
The Monarchs host Lansing Community College on Monday (March 23) for a non-conference 9-inning doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
