Miller Caps Ohio Trip With Impressive Three Home Run Display as Monarchs Sweep Titans

Aidan Miller belted three home runs in Tuesday’s latter contest to push his season total to eight as the Monarchs swept Terra State.

SANDUSKY, Ohio – Macomb Baseball traveled to Sandusky, Ohio, for a non-conference doubleheader against the NJCAA Division III No. 15 Titans of Terra State Community College on Tuesday (April 21) and came away with a pair of victories to improve to 26-15 overall.

The Monarchs won game one, 6-4, before taking the nightcap by a 12-9 tally.

GAME ONE: Macomb 6, Terra State 4
The Monarchs fell behind 2-0 through three before eventually plating six unanswered runs, highlighted by a three-run sixth inning, to take a 6-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh. Terra State would get two across in the home half, but the Monarchs would close the door to secure the 6-4 victory.

Kaiden Pollock got the ball in game one and put on a dominant display. The freshman right-handed pitcher struck out 10 batters, only allowed four hits and did not surrender an earned run across five strong innings of work. With the victory, Pollock improved to 4-2 on the season, tying Greg Burns and Brendan Przybycki with a team-leading four wins.

Aidan Manzella came on in the sixth to earn the six-out save, his fourth of the season.

Brett Leonard provided timely hitting for the Monarchs, including a double and the go-ahead, two-RBI single in the sixth inning. The freshman infielder/outfielder was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, two runs scored and two walks in the opener.

Lochlan Stoudt got the scoring started for the Monarchs in the fourth inning and did so in a big way with his team-leading ninth home run of the campaign.

GAME TWO: Macomb 12, Terra State 9
Game two belonged to Aidan Miller as the sophomore third baseman belted three home runs to help propel the Monarchs to the 12-9 victory. Now with eight long balls on the season, Miller blasted his first of three home runs in the first inning, igniting a 3-for-3 game with five RBIs and a walk.

With the trio of big blasts, Miller joined Vincent Cowdrey as recent Monarchs to record three home runs in a game. Cowdrey—the Monarchs all-time home run leader—hit three in a 23-3 road win at SC4 on March 19, 2025.

Before Miller got his career game underway, Leonard got game two started with a solo home run. Following a strong opener, Leonard finished Tuesday's latter contest with three RBIs as part of a 2-for-4 effort that included his second home run of the season.

Vito Zito also homered for the Monarchs, his fifth of the season, as the freshman went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored.

Austin Thorpe got the start in center field and went on to post a 3-for-4 game two with a double and two RBIs.

On the mound, Connor Dwyer came on in the middle innings to toss two frames of three-strikeout ball to move to 2-0 on the season. Nicholas Stempnik closed game two with three emphatic punch outs to earn his first career save.
