SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — Macomb Volleyball made the short trip to Southfield on Wednesday (Aug. 26) to battle Lawrence Technological University's varsity squad. The match against the four-year varsity Blue Devils started in favor of the Monarchs before the hosts stormed back to win in four sets.
The Monarchs took Wednesday's opening set, 25-21, behind a balanced effort in a hostile environment. Battling a strong Blue Devils varsity team and a spirited home-opening crowd, the Monarchs dropped the next three sets by scores of 25-9, 25-14 and 25-15.
Korin Hutton posted 18 assists and seven digs, while Delaney Heflin notched a team-leading 17 digs to accompany a team-best two aces.
Brooke Baker led the attack with seven kills, followed by Ava Hunt with six and Madison Martin with three.

The long-awaited home opener inside the new Athletics & Expo Center is when the Monarchs will hit the court next on Sept. 4. The home tri-match begins with a battle against Bay College at 12 p.m. A neutral-site tilt between Bay and Rochester Christian University JV will follow before the day closes out with the Monarchs taking on Rochester Christian at approximately 5 p.m.
