BY THE NUMBERS: 33
Well, that was fun! Macomb Softball erupted for
33 runs in their doubleheader sweep over the Skippers of SC4 on ESPN+ last Friday (April 21). The Monarchs won both games via run-rule in five innings, the first by a 12-2 final and the latter by an impressive 21-1 tally. The
33-run eruption was a product of seven home runs and 19 extra-base hits.
BY THE NUMBERS: 106
Sophomore first baseman
Elizabeth Townsend continues to chase history! Townsend—already Macomb's career home run leader—enters the week with
106 RBIs, seven shy of the program record of 113 RBIs set by Kory Farmer (2009-11). Townsend and the Monarchs have eight regular season games left and possible playoff games thereafter.
MONARCH REWIND
The Monarchs went 3-4 last week with a pair of convinci
ng wins on ESPN+ over the host Skippers of SC4 and a 9-1 win at Mott. The 3-4 week shifted the Monarchs record to 16-18 overall and more importantly to 10-12 in the MCCAA East. With the season winding down, the Monarchs are currently behind Henry Ford for the third and final playoff spot (Henry Ford is 10-10 in conference play).
REGULAR SEASON WINDING DOWN
Only eight games remain on the Monarchs regular season slate with two doubleheaders scheduled this week and two next week. At the time of this release, the Monarchs sit just behind Henry Ford for the final playoff spot awarded to the MCCAA East for the upcoming Region XII Great Lakes District Tournament. The Monarchs have two home dates remaining (April 28 and May 6).
ERICKSON'S MASSIVE WEEK
What a week it was for
Danielle Erickson! Erickson was one of many Monarchs to enjoy a solid week at the plate, but the sophomore outfielder was on another level with an incredible .538 batting average, .600 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage on her way to going 14-for-24 with two home runs, four doubles and seven RBIs.
RAIN, RAIN STAY AWAY
Rain is in the forecast for this weekend and could disrupt the Monarchs ability to host Schoolcraft Friday and/or travel to Mott Saturday. Follow

LET'S GET TO STEVENSVILLE
With the regular season coming to a close, the Monarchs are in a tight race for the final playoff spot awarded to the MCCAA East. With a strong finish, the Monarchs can punch the program's second straight ticket to the NJCAA Region XII Great Lakes District Tournament. This year's tournament will once again be held in Stevensville, MI and will be played May 11-13.
A LOOK AT SCHOOLCRAFT & MOTT
If the weather allows, the Monarchs will host Schoolcraft Friday at 3 p.m. before heading to Mott Saturday for a 1 p.m. first pitch. The Monarchs are an equal 2-2 against both the Ocelots and Bears after splitting every doubleheader played with each team. The Ocelots enter the weekend at 8-20 overall and 6-14 in the conference while the Bears are 20-14 overall and 17-5 in league play.
