UNIVERSITY CENTER – Track is back! Macomb Track & Field competed in its first event of the 2025 season on Friday (Jan. 17), traveling north to University Center to take part in the Saginaw Valley State University Classic. Here's a look at how the Monarchs fared against a talented field that featured NCAA DI, DII, NAIA and NJCAA competition.

Emma Dell got the day started for the women's team in the 1-mile event and went on to win her heat while finishing 23
rd overall with a time of 5:56.44. Dell's effort was good for the top attached junior college time in the event. The standout freshman was back at it in the 800m as Dell finished 14
th at 2:40.85.
The 3000m event was next and 2023 NJCAA Cross Country All-American and recent Ferris State University addition,
Ava LaMilza, performed great in her return from a season-ending cross country injury to place fifth in the loaded event with a time of 10:56.01. Like Dell in earlier events, LaMilza's time was good for the best NJCAA finish in the field.
Erin Rowan followed LaMilza in the top 10 with a 10
th place finish in the 3000m at 11:47.72.
With the top 10 finishes, LaMilza finished in front of nine NCAA Division I runners, while Rowan checked in ahead of six from the DI level.
The final event of the night was the 4x400m race and the team of Dell, LaMilza, Rowan and
Lisaleen Ung combined to post a 4:43.62. The time was a second-and-a-half off of ninth place, held by a four-year institution.
The Monarchs return to action next weekend at the Hillsdale Wide Track Classic. The event will act as the 2025 NJCAA Region XII Championship.
