BEREA, Ohio – Macomb Women's Track & Field competed in their final event of the 2025 season on Friday (May 9) evening at Baldwin Wallace University's Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet. Several PRs were set in the season finale, but the night belonged to
Ava LaMilza as the super sophomore competed in the Macomb Blue & White one final time.
A 2023 NJCAA Division II Cross Country All-American, LaMilza helped change the course of the program immediately upon arrival and helped showcase how local elite talent can thrive at Macomb and continue to develop in search of academic and athletic scholarships at 4-year institutions.
After countless memorable performances, LaMilza earned a scholarship to run for Ferris State University in Fall 2025.
On Friday, LaMilza competed in the 5K and crossed the finish line ahead of several NCAA Division I, II and III and NAIA competitors with a time of 18:41. LaMilza finished the 2025 season ranked 45
th nationally in NJCAA Division I in the 5K event.
Erin Rowan joined LaMilza in the 5K and posted a stellar time of 20:11.
While the night belonged to LaMilza, PRs were set by several other Monarchs, led by
Emma Dell's PRs in the 800m and 3000m steeplechase. Dell finished the 800m race at 2:29.56 in the loaded field of 4-year competition and later set a personal best time of 12:38.87 in the steeplechase. Rowan checked in just behind Dell in the 800m at 2:33.13.
With Friday's steeplechase performance, Dell finished the season ranked 30
th nationally in NJCAA Division I in the event.
PRs were also set by
Vanessa Sayers and
Lisaleen Ung in the 1500m race as the pair finished back-to-back-to-back alongside teammate
Kelsey Ettel.
