WARREN – Sydney Garon paced four Monarchs in double figures scoring with 19 points as Macomb Women's Basketball cruised to an 81-55 wire-to-wire home win over the Wayne County Community College District Wildcats on Wednesday (Jan. 29) in Warren.
The 26-point home victory lifted the Monarchs to 12-8 overall and 4-2 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference.
A strong start propelled the Monarchs to the wire-to-wire win as the Blue & White led 26-12 after one quarter of play and 42-25 at the half in the decisive win.
Garon buried five 3-pointers as part of a balanced night on the hardwood that included 19 points, five rebounds and five assists.
A'Liyah Forris was next with 14 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals, while
Vanessa Galovich added 13 points and six boards and
Asiyah Jihad chipped in with 12 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
The balance continued down the box score for the Monarchs as
Janiya McWilliams enjoyed a balanced night with six points, a game-high nine rebounds and five assists,
Ava Prasnjak tallied six points to accompany four rebounds, and the combination of
Carissa Hankins and
Faith Weick chimed in with four points each.
Ruby Sandison rounded out the scoring with three points and corralled four rebounds in the win.
The Monarchs visit Jackson College, a team that is 15-5 overall and 5-1 in the MCCAA East, on Saturday (Feb. 1) at 1 p.m.
