WARREN, Mich. – After earning their third top 25 win of the season at No. 25 Mid Michigan College on Saturday (Dec. 6), No. 9 Macomb Men's Basketball will be back in action this weekend against more ranked competition. The Monarchs will travel to Freeport, Ill., for the 57th Annual William R. Bear/Dimond Bros. Insurance Tournament and open the weekend on Friday (Dec. 12) at 4 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT against NJCAA Division I No. 15 Moberly Area Community College.
A TOURNAMENT UNLIKE ANY OTHER: This weekend's William R. Bear/Dimond Bros. Insurance Tournament features a unique format where all teams will play two games in a single day. With a win on Friday, Macomb will move on to Saturday's action where they will play two games—the first tipping at 12 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. CT. With a loss on Friday, the Monarchs will get a couple of hours rest before tipping off again at 10 p.m. ET / 9 p.m. CT.
The tournament championship game is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET Saturday night. Highland Community College is serving as the host institution for the event.

THE REST OF THE FIELD: The rest of the field includes College of Lake County, Highland Community College, Moraine Valley Community College, Sauk Valley Community College, Southeastern Community College, and NJCAA DII No. 25 Rock Valley College.
Highland, No. 15 Moberly Area, Sauk Valley and Southeastern are all NJCAA DI programs, while Lake County, Moraine Valley and No. 25 Rock Valley are fellow NJCAA DII programs with Macomb.
SCOUTING MOBERLY: Ranked 15th in the latest NJCAA Division I poll, the Greyhounds enter this weekend with an 11-1 record. Their only loss came to reigning NJCAA DII National Champion, Kirkwood Community College, on Nov. 14 in a narrow 69-68 final tally.
Players to watch for Moberly include Lavonta Ivery, who leads the team with 17.6 points per game. Caleb Estes is another primary offensive weapon for the Greyhounds at 15.5 points per contest. Josh Lowe leads the Greyhounds in rebounding with 6.4 per contest.
As a team, the Greyhounds are averaging 78.5 points per game and holding the opposition to 67.8 per game.
Moberly is led by head coach Pat Smith, who earned his 900th career victory earlier this season on Nov. 22.
A LOOK AT MACOMB: The Monarchs earned two big victories last week, defeating Lansing Community College 79-64 on Wednesday, before taking down No. 25 Mid Michigan 93-80 on Saturday.
For his performance last week, redshirt sophomore
Caron Williams earned MCCAA Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors. The redshirt sophomore guard averaged 17 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per contest while shooting just over 57 percent from the floor.
Lajuan Holloway returned to the starting lineup in emphatic fashion Saturday after missing Wednesday's contest at Lansing. The redshirt sophomore forward put on a dominant display, scoring a career-best 23 points while pulling down six rebounds and dishing out three assists. Holloway shot 9-of-16 from the field and 3-of-4 from 3-point land in his career-high effort.
Donald Wilburn scored 22 points in the ranked road win at Mid Michigan, one shy of his career-best scoring effort.
Malachi Irving registered 13 points and 12 rebounds against the Lakers for his first double-double at the collegiate level.
The Monarchs average 77.4 points per game while allowing 69.6 points per contest.
