ROCHESTER – Macomb Women's Track & Field wrapped up a successful two-day stretch at Oakland University's Elaine Leigh Invitational on Saturday (April 19) with a pair of strong debut performances.
Emma Dell ran a 13:00.70 in her steeplechase debut to finish fourth of 13 competitors while
Erin Rowan debuted in the 800m and went on to win her heat by an impressive 13 seconds.
Here's a look at the results from a great weekend in Rochester for the Monarchs.
FRIDAY
1500m
Emma Dell placed 23
rd in a loaded field with NCAA Division I and II runners after crossing the finish line at 5:10.12.
Kelsey Ettel was next for Macomb in 43
rd place,
Lisaleen Ung was 49
th and
Vanessa Sayers was 50
th.
5000m
Ava LaMilza paced the action for the Monarchs in the 5K with a 15
th place performance after recording a time of 18:51.27. The time was good for second among all NJCAA runners in the event.
Erin Rowan checked in 25
th after recording a 20:12.87 to round out a strong event for the Monarchs.
SATURDAY
3000m Steeplechase
Emma Dell placed fourth in an incredible steeplechase debut, only trailing two NCAA Division I runners and one from the NCAA Division II ranks. Dell crossed the finish line at 13:00.70 to clear fifth place by seven seconds.
1800m
Erin Rowan won her heat going away after finishing 13 seconds ahead of the next competitor. With a time of 2:35.66, Rowan finished 26
th overall in the five-heat event.
Emma Dell was next at 2:49.23 in 36
th place.
