ROCHESTER HILLS – The 'Big 3' for Macomb Women's Track & Field showed up in a big way on Saturday (April 5) as the trio of
Ava LaMilza,
Emma Dell and
Erin Rowan set new PRs in the 5000m at Oakland University's Golden Grizzlies Invite.
In a field primarily made up of NCAA Division I & Division II athletes, LaMilza paced the action in eighth place overall with a time of 18:27.25. The new PR time was good for 13
th best among junior college competition nationally this season and resulted in LaMilza finishing ahead of all NCAA Division II runners and all but six NCAA Division I runners in the event.
Dell was next in 17
th place with a PR of her own after crossing the 5000m finish line at 19:20.79. The freshman's new personal record was good for the 28
th best junior college time listed nationally this season. Rowan, who competed against her older sister and former MCCAA standout, Amy, checked in with the 37
th best time in junior college this year after posting a PR effort of 19:57.53. Rowan finished 27
th in Saturday's loaded field.
The combination of
Kelsey Ettel,
Lisaleen Ung and
Vanessa Sayers rounded out the 5K event for the Monarchs with 36
th, 37
th and 38
th place finishes, respectively.
