BY THE NUMBERS: 17
The Monarchs welcome Henry Ford College to the Sports & Expo Center on Wednesday (Jan. 18) for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off. Dating back to the 2012-13 season (when the NJCAA began game-by-game record keeping), head coach Jay Ritchie and the Monarchs are an incredible 17-0 against the Hawks and have won all but one meeting by double digits.

BY THE NUMBERS: 16
The second of two games this week will take place Saturday (Jan. 21) in Flint when the Monarchs visit the Mott CC Bears. The Monarchs are 16-5 against the Bears since the 2012-13 season and enter the week on a six-game winning streak over their conference counterpart from the Vehicle City. The Monarchs haven't lost to Mott since February 2019.

MONARCH REWIND
The Monarchs got MCCAA Eastern Conference play underway Saturday (Jan. 14) against the seventh-ranked Schoolcraft Ocelots. After battling back to get within one possession on several occasions, the Monarchs couldn't get shots to fall late as the Ocelots made a late push to earn a 79-52 victory. Tamia Tounsel led the way with 11 points in the hard-fought setback.

LEADING THE WAY
Through 13 games, Amy Jackson remains the Monarchs' leading scorer at 11.5 points per game and is followed closely by former Dakota High School standout, Tamia Tounsel, who checks in with 10.7 points per contest. Tounsel also paces the effort on the glass with 8.5 rebounds per game and Valina Hudgins is next with a per game average of 6.8 rebounds in 12 games played.

THOMAS' BUSY SCHEDULE
If you've followed along over the course of the past two seasons, it is no secret that sophomore guard Rylee Thomas is a two-sport standout at Macomb. Averaging 9.9 points per game, good for third on the team, Thomas was busy last week as Macomb Softball began practicing for their upcoming 2023 campaign that begins March 5 in Florida.

70 POINTS = GOOD INDICATOR
70 points has been a strong indicator for success (offensively and defensively)  for the Monarchs this season. Offensively, the Monarchs are 5-0 when tallying 70 or more points, and defensively, the Blue & White is 9-1 when holding the opposition under 70 points.

A LOOK AT: HENRY FORD
After not competing in conference play a season ago, the Hawks of Henry Ford College returned to MCCAA Eastern Conference action Saturday (Jan. 14) in winning fashion, toppling Wayne County by an 82-59 final tally. The Hawks, who enter Wednesday's league tilt at 2-11 overall, are led by Shawnta Standifer's 16.9 points per game. As a team, the Hawks average 49.5 points per game.

A LOOK AT: MOTT
The Bears of Mott Community College enter the week with an even 8-8 record overall and 0-1 mark in leauge play after falling in their conference opener at St. Clair County Community College by a 68-49 final. The Bears are led by Leah Lappin's 14.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. Olivia Groulx follows in the scoring column with an average of 12.9 points per contest.

THIS WEEK IN MONARCH HISTORY
We're rewinding the clock nearly one year to the day in this edition of "This Week in Monarch History". On Jan. 19, 2022, the Monarchs outscored the host Mott Bears 24-10 in the fourth quarter to rally for a 66-63 win. Former Monarch and current Albion Brit, DeBraya Edwards, led the charge with 21 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.
