BY THE NUMBERS: 13
We're kicking off this week's "By The Numbers" segment by welcoming
Rayonna Armstrong back to the lineup for the first time since Nov. 5, 2021! Over two games last week, Armstrong wasted no time making an impact by tallying nine points in a home win over Henry Ford Wednesday and a game-high
13 points in Saturday's road win at Mott.
BY THE NUMBERS: 40
The nation's ninth-best scoring defense was at it once again Saturday in the Monarchs 44-39 victory at Mott. The Monarchs held the Bears to 17 second half points (39 total) to earn a hard-fought comeback victory. With the win, the Monarchs have now held the opposition under
40 points a remarkable five times this season (through 15 games).
A GREAT WEEK
The Monarchs went 2-0 last week with a 64-47 win at home over Henry Ford Wednesday evening and the aforementioned 44-39 road triumph over Mott Saturday.
Kamryn Richards was on fire against Henry Ford making seven 3-pointers (third in a single game in program history) to post a game-high 21 points.
Rayonna Armstrong led the Monarchs at Mott with 13 points.
STAT LEADERS
Amy Jackson paces the Monarchs at 11.1 points per game and is immediately followed by
Rayonna Armstrong and
Tamia Tounsel with 11.0 and 10.1 points per contest, respectively. Tounsel also paces the effort on the glass with 8.7 rebounds per game and
Valina Hudgins averages 7.5 boards per contest.
Kamryn Richards averages a team-best 4.2 assists per game.
AGGRESSIVE ON THE GLASS
Valina Hudgins has played a key factor in the Monarchs' success this season, in large part because of her ability to grab tough rebounds. Hudgins was aggressive on the glass last week and it showed with back-to-back 12 rebound performances. In all, Hudgins has pulled down eight or more rebounds eight times this season and averages 7.5 per game.
REBOUNDS ARE THE KEY TO VICTORY
Speaking of rebounds... The Monarchs are a perfect 8-0 when they out-rebound opponents this season and hold a 1-0 record when they tie the opposition on the glass. Conversely, the Monarchs are 3-3 on the season when they are out-rebounded by their opponent.
A LOOK AT: SC4
The SC4 Skippers welcome the Monarchs to Port Huron Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off. The Skippers have shot out to a 2-1 record in the MCCAA Eastern Conference (11-7 overall) and are led by Dareonna Little's 16.3 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. The Skippers average 63.6 points per game on 38.5% shooting through 18 games this season.

As a team, the Raiders average 63.3 points per game and hold opponents to 51.1 points per contest.
OVER THE PAST 10 SEASONS...

The Monarchs are 16-5 over the past 10 seasons against OCC and won seven straight before dropping both games last year.
