The Monarchs picked up a road win over Wayne County by a 69-47 final Saturday (Feb. 25) behind a great all-around team effort and a few special individual performances. Of note, sophomore forward
Amy Jackson notched her first double-double at the collegiate level with 14 points and a career-high
13 rebounds in the 22-point win.

Speaking of special performances, sophomore guard
Rylee Thomas came up big for the Monarchs in the 22-point road victory at Wayne County Saturday with a game-high
17 points on five 3-pointers made. The five 3-pointer outburst marked the seventh time this season Thomas has drained four-or-more triples in a game.
SOPHOMORE NIGHT
The Monarchs will play in front of their home crowd for the final time this season on Tuesday (Feb. 28) when they host nationally ranked Jackson College at 5:30 p.m. The game is also Sophomore Night as the program honors its sophomores who are moving on after this season with a pregame ceremony. The ceremony will take place approximately 10 minutes prior to tip-off.

Rayonna Armstrong pace six Monarchs averaging over seven points per game at 12.1 PPG and 9.8 PPG, respectively.
Tamia Tounsel crashes the glass to the tune of a team-leading 8.3 rebounds per game and

Kamryn Richards dishes out four of the Monarchs 16.9 assists per game.
FIRST ROUND ON THE ROAD
While seeding for the fourth or fifth seed has yet to be determined, the Monarchs now know they will begin NJCAA Region XII Great Lakes District Tournament play on the road against one of the following opponents: Jackson, Schoolcraft or SC4. The first round game will take place March 7 with the opponent/location and tip-off time to be determined.
ONLY ONE TRIPLE AWAY
With five triples at Wayne County,
Rylee Thomas elevated her season 3-pointers tally to 49 made through 23 games played. With one more three, Thomas will be the 21st Monarch to make 50 3-pointers in a single season.
CHECKING IN ON: OAKLAND CC
The OCC Raiders enter the week with a 17-8 overall record and an even 6-6 mark in MCCAA East play after falling over the weekend to Mott CC. The Raiders won the first meeting of the season with the Monarchs, a 59-52 victory in Warren on Jan. 28. The winner of this week's game between the Monarchs and Raiders will likely settle who receives the No. 4 seed and who is gets the fifth and final seed.
CHECKING IN ON: JACKSON
Unable to play last week due to the ice storm's devastation in and around the Jackson area, the nationally ranked Jets of Jackson College enter the week with an impressive 21-2 record overall and a 10-1 record in the MCCAA East. With three games remaining, Jackson is in control of their own destiny and is eyeing an outright league championship, but they can also fall down to third place if results don't go in their favor.
SOLID TEAM DEFENSE
With the final week of the regular season and playoffs ahead over the next two weeks, the Monarchs will continue to rely on a defense that has held opponents to 52.9 points per game, an average good for 12th nationally. The Monarchs have held the opposition to 50 or less on 10 occasions and have posted a 9-1 record in those contests.
