Marissa Thomas has joined fellow sophomore
Tamia Tounsel in the
15 points per game club this season! Entering the week, Thomas is averaging an even 15.0 points per game, while Tounsel checks in a fraction ahead with a team-leading 15.1 points per contest.
THE WEEK AHEAD
Macomb Women's Basketball continues MCCAA Eastern Conference play with a pair of games this week. On Wednesday (Jan. 31), the Monarchs will close out the month with a 5:30 p.m. road tilt in Detroit at Wayne County Community College District. Then on Saturday (Feb. 3), the Monarchs will return home to host the Jets of Jackson College at 1 p.m.

The dynamic duo of
Marissa Thomas and
Tamia Tounsel continue to lead the scoring column for a balanced Monarchs team that features five players averaging five or more points per game (PPG). Tounsel leads the way at 15.1 PPG and is followed closely by Thomas at an even 15.0 PPG.
Kamryn Richards is next at 8.9 PPG, while
Sydney Garon and
Enddiea Reese check in averaging 7.8 PPG and 6.5 PPG, respectively.
ANOTHER BIG WEEK FOR THOMAS
Marissa Thomas continued her ascent last week with two strong performances to help the Monarchs go 1-1 on the hardwood. Thomas dropped in 21 points and added seven rebounds in a setback to SC4 before pouring in 25 points to go along with six assists, five rebounds and five steals in a win over OCC. Thomas has scored 20+ points four times this season.
SOPHOMORE DAY IS FEB. 24
Women's Basketball will host Sophomore Day on February 24 at 1 p.m. when the Monarchs host Wayne County Community College. Come early as Macomb Athletics honors the careers of the team's sophomores with a special pregame ceremony.
A LOOK AT: WAYNE COUNTY
The Wildcats of Wayne County Community College enter this week's action at 5-11 overall and are one of two teams without a conference win in the MCCAA East at 0-4. The Wildcats will look to snap a seven-game skid when they host the Monarchs on Wednesday and will be led by Brianna Clark who nets 17.2 points per game.
A LOOK AT: JACKSON
Atop the MCCAA Eastern Conference with Schoolcraft at 4-0 in league play, the Jets of Jackson College enter the week with an overall record of 16-2 and are receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Division II Rankings. One of the league favorites in the early stages of conference play, the Jets average 76.2 points per game and are led by the tandem of Kaylona Butler (16.1 PPG) and Zoandria Bamm (15.5 PPG).
