BY THE NUMBERS: 13
Macomb Women's Basketball took a break from MCCAA Eastern Conference action on Saturday (Feb. 10) for a non-league tilt at Lake Michigan College. The Monarchs made the most of their trip to the west side and came away with a 13 point win (71-58) to sweep the season series with the Red Hawks and improve to 13-8 overall.

BY THE NUMBERS: 2
The Monarchs picked up the road victory in Benton Harbor on Saturday thanks to another balanced effort on the hardwood led by sophomore forward Tamia Tounsel. Tounsel posted a team-high 19 points and added nine rebounds to lead five in double figures scoring and drained the first two (2) 3-pointers of her Macomb career in the winning effort!

THE WEEK AHEAD
The Monarchs will resume MCCAA Eastern Conference play with a pair of road contests in the week ahead. First up is a trip to the Vehicle City on Valentine's Day for a date with the Bears of Mott CC. Tip-off for the Wednesday tilt is set for 5:30 p.m. The Monarchs will close out the week by visiting No. 17 SC4 in Port Huron for a 1 p.m. Saturday tip-off.

THE SCORING COLUMN
Marissa Thomas leads a balanced Monarch scoring attack with an average of 14.8 points per game (PPG) and is immediately followed by Tamia Tounsel who checks in at 14.6 PPG. Kamryn Richards nets 8.7 per contest, while Sydney Garon and Enddiea Reese average 8.0 and 6.9 PPG, respectively. As a team, the Monarchs average 63.9 PPG and have held the opposition to 59.5 PPG through 21 games this season.

THE PLAYOFF PICTURE
The top five teams in the MCCAA Eastern Conference qualify for one of the three NJCAA Region 12 Great Lakes District Tournaments (A, B or C). The top seed from the east will get first round bye while seed 2 will host seed 5 and seed 3 will host seed 4 on March 5 for the right to get to Flint (Mott CC), the final site of the Region 12 Tournaments on March 7-10. No. 17 SC4 and Jackson are tied atop the league at 7-1 with Schoolcraft right behind at 6-2 in conference play. Macomb is next at 3-4 while Mott and OCC are currently tied for the last playoff spot at 2-6 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference.

SOPHOMORE DAY IS FEBRUARY 24
Women's Basketball will host Sophomore Day on February 24 at 1 p.m. when the Monarchs host Wayne County Community College. Come early as Macomb Athletics honors the careers of the team's sophomores with a special pregame ceremony.

A LOOK AT: MOTT
The Bears of Mott Community College enter this week's action in a tie for the fifth and final playoff spot from the MCCAA Eastern Conference with a 2-6 league record. The Bears, 5-12 overall, are coming off an impressive upset win over Schoolcraft on Saturday and will be led into action by Arie Lewis who averages a team-best 15.0 PPG.

A LOOK AT: #17 SC4
The 17th ranked St. Clair County Community College Skippers enter the week riding a five-game winning streak and sit at 20-2 overall. The Skippers are 7-1 in MCCAA Eastern Conference action, a record that is good for a first place tie with Jackson. A tough team to play at home, the Skippers boast an unblemished 13-0 record in Port Huron this season. Arlonna Twitty leads four in double figures at 14.2 PPG.

SEASON STAT LEADERS
Tamia Tounsel leads the team on the glass at 10.7 rebounds per game (fourth in the MCCAA) while Marissa Thomas averages a team-leading 4.0 assists and 2.2 steals per game.
