HOW THE WEEK IS WON
Time to break down the Monarchs' path to the District A title and a berth to the NJCAA DII National Championship. The Monarchs need to win Tuesday to advance to Flint. From there, the Monarchs need to upset arguably the best team in all of Region 12, No. 18 Mid Michigan College, to move on to the District A Championship Game vs. whoever emerges from the other semifinal.
THOMAS' BALANCED PLAY
Sophomore transfer
Marissa Thomas has, without question, enjoyed a highly-successful season at Macomb. Through 26 games, Thomas has stuffed the stat sheet to the tune of a team-best 103 assists while averaging 15.0 PPG, 5.5 RPG and 4.0 APG.
A LOOK AT: SCHOOLCRAFT
The Ocelots of Schoolcraft College enter the District A play-in game as the East No. 3 seed after winning the conference tiebreaker with the Monarchs (Schoolcraft won both regular season meetings this year). The Ocelots, a deep and talented team, average 68.3 PPG behind three players averaging double figures and 41.4% shooting overall.
A LOOK AROUND THE BRACKET
We've talked about the Monarchs' path this week, but let's take a look at the complete Great Lakes District A bracket. While the winner of Macomb vs. Schoolcraft moves on to play one-loss and 18th ranked Mid Michigan, the other side of the bracket features some impressive teams from across Region 12 as South No. 2 seed Hocking awaits the winner of West No. 2 Kellogg vs. West No. 5 Lake Michigan.
