UNIVERSITY CENTER – Track is back! Macomb Track & Field competed in its first event of the 2025 season on Friday (Jan. 17), traveling north to University Center to take part in the Saginaw Valley State University Classic. Here's a look at how the Monarchs fared against a talented field that featured NCAA DI, DII, NAIA and NJCAA competition.

Attached men's runners competed in two events the SVSU Classic, the 3000m and the 4x400m relay. In the 3000m,
Jack DeWaele paced the action for the Monarchs with a 25
th place time of 9:43.88 and was followed by
Brandon Penberthy at 9:59.50,
Mathieu Fortier at 10:17.57 and
Preston Corneillie at 10:35.86.
In the 4x400, a team consisting of the Penberthy twins, DeWaele and Fortier combined to post a 3:53.30.
The Monarchs return to action next weekend at the Hillsdale Wide Track Classic. The event will act as the 2025 NJCAA Region XII Championship.
