HILLSDALE – Mathieu Fortier recorded a PR time of 18:09.11 in the 5K for a second place NJCAA Region 12 finish and Lucas Shemansky finished second in the 800m after clocking in at 2:07.00 to highlight Saturday's (Jan. 25) effort at the Hillsdale Wide Track Classic (also the NJCAA Region 12 Championship). As a team, the Monarchs finished third in Region 12 and ninth overall out of a total of 19 teams competing in Hillsdale.

On top of the steady performances by Fortier and Shemansky, the Monarchs capped off the night with a solid performance in the 4x400m relay as the team of Shemansky, Brandon Penberthy, Dylan Penberthy and Carson Gilbertson clocked in at 3:50 for a second place region finish.
 
The Monarchs return to action at the GVSU Big Meet on Valentine's weekend.
