The Monarchs visit the Roadrunners of Southwestern Michigan College for a non-conference tilt at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

WARREN, Mich. – After taking a break from game action during final exams, the Macomb Women's Basketball team will return to the court Friday (Dec. 12) for a road contest at Southwestern Michigan College. Tip-off between the Monarchs and Roadrunners is set for 5:30 p.m. from the 1st Source Bank Fieldhouse in Dowagiac.

SCOUTING SOUTHWESTERN MICHIGAN: Southwestern Michigan enters this week sporting a 3-5 overall record. The Roadrunners most recently earned a 75-56 victory over Joliet Junior College on Dec. 6.

Rayvan Rush paces the Roadrunners in scoring with 17.0 points per game. The sophomore guard earned MCCAA West Second Team All-Conference and All-Freshman Team honors a season ago. Fellow sophomore Kayla Johnson leads the Roadrunners on the boards with 6.4 rebounds per contest.

The Roadrunners are led by first-year head coach Ariana Dampier.

A LOOK AT MACOMB: Shorthanded due to mounting injuries, the Monarchs were without three starters in last Saturday's 76-53 setback at Mid Michigan College.

A'Liyah Forris led Macomb with a game-high 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds. MyKenzi Harris added 10 points and seven rebounds, while Hannah Tamou recorded eight points and Ruby Sandison chipped in six points and a career-best eight rebounds.

Despite missing Saturday's game, Asiyah Jihad continues to lead the Monarchs in both points (17.0 PPG) and rebounds (8.1 RPG).

The Monarchs' defense continues to be their strength as they've held opponents to 64.0 points per game and have forced 183 turnovers behind 12.1 steals per game.

LAST MEETING: The two sides have not met since Nov. 4, 2022, when the Monarchs earned a 75-66 neutral-site victory at Lake Michigan College's Tip-Off Classic. In that game, former two-sport standout (basketball/softball), Rylee Thomas, poured in a career-high 28 points off the bench for the Monarchs. Amy Jackson, another former two-sport star at Macomb (basketball/cross country) tallied 20 points in the win.

LIVE COVERAGE: Southwestern Michigan will provide live video coverage for Friday's game here.

UP NEXT: Following Friday's game, the Monarchs will take a trip across the border to Canada to take on Lambton College. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. in Sarnia.
