RESULTS
UNIVERSITY CENTER – The foundation has been set. Macomb Track & Field put the finishing touches on the indoor portion of its season on Friday (Feb. 21) with a stellar showing at the Saginaw Valley State University Tune-Up in University Center, Mich. With the indoor season concluded, the program will turn its attention to prep for the outdoor season.
The outdoor track & field schedule will be released in March.
Four PRs were set in the season finale, two each by first-year runners
Preston Corneillie and
Mathieu Fortier. Fortier and Corneillie posted a 5:01.47 and 5:03.23 in the Mile, respectively, while Corneillie also set a personal best in the 3K and Fortier earned a PR in the 5K.
Lucas Shemansky also had a strong showing on Friday, crossing the finish line at 2:04.60 in the 800m and 4:47.07 in the Mile. Shemansky's Mile time was a team best on the day.
The Mile was the most popular event of the day for the Monarchs as
Jack DeWaele,
Brandon Penberthy and
Dylan Penberthy also competed. DeWaele checked in at 4:52.87, [Dylan] Penberthy crossed at 4:58.13 and [Brandon] Penberthy recorded a 5:05.36.
The Monarchs closed out their day in the 4x400m relay as the team of DeWaele, [Brandon] Penberthy, [Dylan] Penberthy and Shemansky raced their way to a 3:54.94.
